  • French Yarn Dye Knits

French yarn dye knits are moderately textured, with dynamite colors! These medium weight knits will travel beautifully, are easy to sew, and look fabulous….a real workhorse fabric!

    Pretreatment:

Machine wash, tumble dry. Use low heat in the dryer.

    Needles and Thread:

Jersey/ballpoint needles, size 11/75, are recommended. Use cotton covered polyester or all polyester thread for construction.

    Seams, Seam Finishes, and Hems:

For seams, use a 2.0 length, 1.5 width zigzag. If you have a serger, a 3 thread balanced stitch is recommended for seams. Hems can be stitched with the same zigzag as is used for construction, or you can use a ballpoint twin needle or a coverstitch for your hems. Seam finishes are not needed; the fabric does not ravel.

    Interfacing:

Lightweight fusible tricot interfacings work beautifully with this fabric.

    Pattern Suggestions:

Tanks, tees, dresses, skirts, turtlenecks, cardigans, lightly structured jackets, leggings.

    Creative possibilities:

Mix these knits with leather, piping trim, or lace for a one-of-a-kind garment.

    Additional Tips:

Use the "synthetic" heat setting on your iron as you work with this fabric. A press cloth is recommended.
