About Shannon Gifford Shannon Gifford was a sewing instructor extraordinaire, a fabric enthusiast, and sewing author from Cartersville, GA. She owned a custom clothing business for many years, specializing in special occasion wear, wardrobe construction, and stage costuming. She worked for and with interior designers, theatrical productions, and in the workroom of a movie production. Shannon was a popular and highly-regarded sewing teacher, and presented a series of online classes through her website, www.sensiblesewing.com, as well as through PatternReview, www.patternreview.com. These excellent classes continue to be available thanks to the efforts of her husband, Mike. Shannon was also a frequent contributor to several sewing related publications, including Threads magazine. Shannon and her husband of 30 years had four children together, all of whom also sew. Shannon passed away in April, 2010, after a year-long battle with cancer, but her incredible body of work lives on and enriches and enlightens all of us who love to sew. | ||
