Kathryn Brenne is a graduate of Ryerson University's Fashion Design program. She has many years of experience working with private clientele in menswear, bridal and ladies fashion.
With her extensive knowledge of fabrics and sewing techniques, Kathryn has published over 100 sewing related articles for THREADS, Butterick Home Catalogue, SewNews, Consumers Digest and Vogue Patterns. She currently works as a contributing editor for Vogue Pattern magazine.
Kathryn is the designer of the classic Travel Skirt pattern, which is distributed throughout Canada, the US and Australia. She has produced, in conjunction with David Page Coffin, Sewing Leather a virtual workshop CD.
Kathryn founded The Academy of Fine Sewing & Design in 2000. The school is dedicated to helping the home sewer achieve success by providing professional instruction and techniques in a fully equipped facility. Although it is located in North Bay, Ontario The Academy attracts students from across North America. Kathryn travels to lecture at various sewing shows and conferences across Canada and the US.
Each year Kathryn leads group tours to Paris/London and New York. The trips are focused on sewing, knitting, fashion and culture.
In her spare time Kathryn enjoys spending time with her husband and four children. Her interests include travel, knitting, swimming, hiking, downhill and cross country skiing.
